Happy 242nd Birthday to the United States Army!
Another year for the UNITED STATES ARMY, HAPPY 242nd Birthday! HOOAH! The ARMY’S birthday is coming up, here are some interesting facts about the branch of service that I love.
The U.S. Army was established on June 14, 1775, when the Continental Congress authorized the enlistment of riflemen to serve the United Colonies for one year. The Continental Army was founded in response to a need for professional soldiers in the American Revolutionary War in order to fight the occupying and invading British Army. These strong individuals stunned the world and stood toe to toe with the premiere fighting force on the day and eventually prevailed. Their actions gave birth to the greatest nation this world has ever seen and the greatest fighting force mankind has ever known. During the 242 year’s these young men and women would serve our nation in every corner of the world with honor and dignity.
The Army has fought to tame the vast western frontier and bring America as we know it, under the stars and stripes. They bled on the fields in both the north and the south as millions died to hold a young fragile nation together during the Civil War. These young men bridged the Atlantic and Pacific oceans and Panama as they reshaped the world of trade as none had seen before. They answered the call during WWI as they aided in restoring balance on the European continent in, stepped forward to confront evil and its purest form in WWII and came out victorious. The men and women of the U.S Army served with honor in the frigid climate of Korea and jungles of Vietnam and in so many other places around the world. For the last 16 years, the US ARMY has been at the tip of the spear, in the war on terror in Iraq and Afghanistan. We celebrate the ARMY’s birthday to honor those who have served and to those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice.
Happy 242nd Birthday to the UNITED STATES ARMY!
