The Day I Noticed The Signs

Well move-in day to our new house has finally happened! Although we have done everything we possibly can to make this transition easier for Zion, he still has a lot of questions, and we are okay with that. We keep having to tell him that this is our forever home. We tell him at least 3x a day that we don’t live with Nani and Popo anymore (my parents). However, he also loves his room and his “big boy” bed. We got him a full size storage bed. We haven’t been able to put it together yet, but he knows it is coming and he’s very excited! The military did good with not breaking too many things. A few things here and there and so I thought we were doing good. And then at the end, we get hit with the big one.. “Um we don’t have the footboard to your bed!” UGH!! That footboard pretty much makes or breaks our bed- literally. It is a storage bed so without the footboard we have no bed. Believe me, I have heard many horror stories of household good deliveries, so I know we got away well. However, now we must sit and wait for the claim to process.

Zion has been extra loving with this sister lately. Amaiah is almost 11 months old and is practically running. She started walking at 9 months, and everyday she becomes faster and stronger. I think Zion likes this because he plays with a lot more now. He runs after her and has so much fun with her. For a while there I didn’t know if he was ever going to warm up to the fact that Amaiah is his sister. However, he even said the other day “my sister going to?” which filled my heart with joy! He talks to her and kisses her goodnight every single day. I am so blessed to have these two amazing kiddos!

Zion has been doing great in school as well. The other day he fell at recess and didn’t tell anyone. The teacher noticed he was bleeding and had to take him to the nurse. She said he refused at first but then he felt comfortable and let them clean him. He has never let us clean his cuts, so this was a BIG win for Zion! He sings an alphabet and shape song in his class and we literally know all the words to it. He sings it everyday, about 10 times a day from the time we get home to the time he goes to sleep. I am so amazed and what he’s learning though. He was able to identify 3-D shapes, a pentagon, hexagon, and even an octagon. He talks about parallelograms, quadrilaterals, and rhombus! He can spell his name, my name, both my parents names, and even his baby sister. Please remember, he is only 3 years old! Zion is a little sponge and soaks up everything little things that he learns. I couldn’t be more proud of his accomplishments.

I ordered a pretty awesome Chicago Cubs Autism shirt and I am really excited for it to come in! That is all for this week. Thank you so much for reading and continuing to support Zion on this journey. We truly appreciate it!
