Aloha! Have any of y’all ever wanted to try surfing but haven’t given it a go because you’re not sure where to go for lessons? Look no further ladies! The Outdoor Recreation Center at Hickam Harbor has put together a women’s surfing class that is scheduled to take place March 25th from 9am-noon. You must register by Thursday, March 22nd, the cost for this class is $30, and you must sign up in person at the Outdoor Recreation Center on Hickam Harbor.
During the four hour class, the Outdoor Recreation staff will give professional instructions and will deliver information regarding the history of surfing, proper surfing etiquette, as well as proper surfing techniques. The staff will also make sure to fit you for the right board and after instruction near the shore, they will provide a short boat ride to the waves where they will provide further personal instructions on how to ride the waves. The staff does require that participants who sign up for the class must be able to swim without a lifejacket.
If you have any further questions about this event, you can contact the Outdoor Recreation Center at Hickam Harbor at (808) 449-5215. I also receive most of my information via Great Life Hawaii magazine. You can visit their website at www.greatlifehawaii.com to request a copy be sent to your home.
