<p><strong>How To Switch And Save<br></strong>If your phone is locked because you’re still making payments, your carrier will allow you to request that your phone be unlocked. Most carriers automatically unlock your phone after 60 days but you have to request your unlock pin. </p>

<p><strong>Here&#8217;s How You Can Get Started on Getting Your Unlock Pin:</strong></p>

<ol class="wp-block-list">
<li>Reach out to your current carrier’s customer service or visit their website to begin the unlocking process. They will provide you with guidance on the necessary steps and any requirements you need to fulfill.</li>

<li>You may need to provide various details, including your account information, phone number, and IMEI number. You can find your IMEI number in your phone’s settings or by dialing <strong>*#06#</strong> on your phone. In some cases, a written request may also be required.</li>

<li>Your carrier will provide you with specific instructions on how to complete the unlocking process. This may involve entering a code provided by the carrier or performing a reset on your phone.</li>
</ol>

<p>Once your phone is successfully unlocked, you’ll have the freedom to use it on our network. <strong>However, your carrier will send you a bill for the remaining balance if you still are making payments shortly thereafter!</strong></p>

<p>Once it’s unlocked, switching is simple — just order an eSIM, activate, and port your number over on <a href="http://voice-wireless.com"><strong>VOICE-wireless.com</strong></a> and start saving month to month on your phone service.</p>

<p>If you’d rather not wait, you can always bring an already unlocked device or buy the latest phone on our store and start saving immediately.</p>

<p><strong>What Do I Do About My Balance?</strong></p>

<p>If you’re weary about paying off your balance, there are a few options available to you. You can trade in your phone to Apple, and use your trade in credit for the new iPhone. When you buy a phone from Apple, you buy an unlocked phone making the switch to VOICE simple.<br><br>If you want to make it even easier, you can trade your phone in and buy a new device right from the <strong><a href="https://voice-wireless.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">VOICE Wireless store</a></strong>.</p>

<p><strong>To trade in your device, follow these steps: </strong></p>

<ol class="wp-block-list">
<li>When purchasing a device, you’ll be presented with an option for trade-in.  </li>

<li>Once you confirm your new device purchase order, the trade-in experience will begin. </li>

<li>Complete the estimation form by providing information about your device and answering a few additional questions.  </li>

<li>It’s crucial to provide accurate details that reflect the actual condition of your device to ensure the most precise valuation.  </li>

<li>Accept the estimated offer to continue with trade-in.</li>
</ol>

<p>Upon acceptance of terms and conditions, our trade-in partner Asurion, will send you an email confirmation that includes trade-in summary and next steps. </p>

<p>As the title says, this is a day for us to honor those who suffered through captivity and remember those whose fate remains unknown. POW/MIA Recognition Day is observed annually on the third Friday of September.</p>

<figure class="aligncenter size-large is-resized"><a href="https://www.pow-miafamilies.org/" target="_blank"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="640" height="480" src="https://blog.mymilitarysavings.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/POW-MIA-640x480.png" alt="" class="wp-image-43103" style="width:458px;height:auto" srcset="https://blog.mymilitarysavings.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/POW-MIA-640x480.png 640w, https://blog.mymilitarysavings.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/POW-MIA-300x225.png 300w, https://blog.mymilitarysavings.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/POW-MIA-768x576.png 768w, https://blog.mymilitarysavings.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/POW-MIA-370x278.png 370w, https://blog.mymilitarysavings.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/POW-MIA-270x203.png 270w, https://blog.mymilitarysavings.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/POW-MIA-570x428.png 570w, https://blog.mymilitarysavings.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/POW-MIA-740x555.png 740w, https://blog.mymilitarysavings.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/POW-MIA-80x60.png 80w, https://blog.mymilitarysavings.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/POW-MIA.png 800w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px" /></a></figure></div>

<p>Ceremonies commemorating the POW/MIA are held at the Pentagon and military bases worldwide. The POW/MIA Flag is flown at federal buildings, and many states fly the flag as well. In some areas, schools hold museum visits and other field trips so the upcoming generation does not forget the people for whom this day is named. POW/MIA recognition rides are commonplace now, with service members, veterans, and families joining in motorcycle rides across the country.</p>

<p>What became POW/MIA Recognition Day began with the <a href="https://www.pow-miafamilies.org/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"><strong>National League of Families of American Prisoners and Missing in Southeast Asia</strong></a>. Founded in 1966, the organization was the first to lobby the U.S. government and the United Nations for the humane treatment of POWs and information on those declared MIA.</p>

<p>In 1972, the League adopted the POW/MIA flag, giving it an incredible visual that has appeared on nearly every national magazine and is recognized around the world. Seven years later, POW/MIA the first National POW/MIA Recognition Day was observed with an official ceremony in Washington, D.C.</p>

<p>In the forty-six years since 1979, the federal government has had several agencies dedicated to finding and identifying service member remains. On January 15, 2015, those were folded into one organization based out of the Pentagon. <a href="https://www.dpaa.mil/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"><strong>The Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency</strong></a> follows leads, performs searches, and identifies remains from every conflict since WWII in their laboratories and partnership with private organizations.</p>

<p>These teams work around the world, still searching for service member remains. Shortly before this article was written, the remains of <a href="https://www.dpaa.mil/News-Stories/ID-Announcements/Article/4260984/airman-accounted-for-from-vietnam-war-gish-h/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"><strong>U.S. Air Force Staff Sgt. Henry G. Gish</strong></a> were fully identified and his family informed. SSgt Gish, with ten of his brothers, was killed in Vietnam forty-seven years ago.</p>

<p>This month, find out what your community is doing and take some time to honor these men and women. Do something to follow what it says on the POW/MIA Flag, <em>“<strong>You Are Not Forgotten</strong>”</em>.</p>

<p>You have three concentric rings, unlike a circus with three rings next to each other. If you take the right <strong><a href="https://amzn.to/3JURwtM" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">precautions</a></strong>, these form barriers that keep your pets itch and bite-free through even the longest Summer.</p>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li><strong>Ring One:</strong> Start with your yard. It is the frontline in protecting your home and your pets. If fleas and other insects avoid your yard, then they can’t get to your residence or your cats and dogs. Keep your lawn cut short, and don’t overwater. Fleas prefer moist, tall grass in shaded areas. Lay down flea sprays and other products after your pets are in for the night.</li>

<li><strong>Ring Two:</strong> Your home is next. Carpets can be homes to hundreds of fleas and their eggs. They can also nest in hardwood floors where the pieces join together. To reduce and eliminate their numbers, vacuum frequently and empty the canister each time. If you have a vacuum with a bag, replace it if you suspect fleas are present. Fleas can also hide in furniture, pet bedding, and your bedding. There are excellent sprays to treat furniture fabrics that are safe for your pets so that you can use them anytime. Always wash pet bedding in hot water and wash your bedding regularly if your pets also sleep with you.</li>

<li><strong>Ring Three:</strong> Finally, there is the barrier you place around your pet. A quick visit to your veterinarian gives you the best combination of flea collars and medications. He can also recommend the right flea shampoo and advise you on how often to bathe your cats or dogs.</li>
</ul>

<p>After taking a walk, remember to check your pet at the door before going inside. If you live in an area where your home has a mud room, that is perfect. You can keep a flea comb and a bottle of flea spray there for immediate use. When you perform an exam, look for fleas, eggs, and little black specks that show fleas have at least visited your pets.</p>

<p>If you do see fleas, act immediately. Flea bites are uncomfortable for you and your pets but especially painful and irritating for young kittens and puppies. If these steps are ineffective or if your pet does not recover as quickly as you think it should, contact your veterinarian. </p>

<figure class="aligncenter size-large is-resized"><a href="https://www.militarypetclub.com/blog_posts/6" target="_blank"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="640" height="480" src="https://blog.mymilitarysavings.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/Do-I-Need-It-image-1-640x480.png" alt="" class="wp-image-43133" style="width:439px;height:auto" srcset="https://blog.mymilitarysavings.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/Do-I-Need-It-image-1-640x480.png 640w, https://blog.mymilitarysavings.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/Do-I-Need-It-image-1-300x225.png 300w, https://blog.mymilitarysavings.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/Do-I-Need-It-image-1-768x576.png 768w, https://blog.mymilitarysavings.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/Do-I-Need-It-image-1-370x278.png 370w, https://blog.mymilitarysavings.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/Do-I-Need-It-image-1-270x203.png 270w, https://blog.mymilitarysavings.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/Do-I-Need-It-image-1-570x428.png 570w, https://blog.mymilitarysavings.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/Do-I-Need-It-image-1-740x555.png 740w, https://blog.mymilitarysavings.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/Do-I-Need-It-image-1-80x60.png 80w, https://blog.mymilitarysavings.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/Do-I-Need-It-image-1.png 800w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px" /></a></figure></div>

<p>There are over 175 million pets just in North America and only 1.5 million of those dogs, cats, birds, and so on, are insured with a pet policy. Pet policies are designed to protect owners and pets against costs from issues such as disease, illness, and accidents such being hit by a car or an unprovoked attack from another animal.</p>

<p>Make sure the company you choose will tailor your policy to the species and breed of your pet. Large breed dogs like Great Danes have a number of health issues not common to small breeds like Terriers and certain species of birds are more susceptible to molting diseases than others. Before you purchase your policy, make certain your veterinarian will accept it. Just like human doctors, not all vets take every insurance.</p>

<p><strong><a href="https://www.militarypetclub.com/blog_posts/6" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Pet Insurance</a></strong> is important, but it is not the only part of your beloved pet’s healthcare plan. <strong>Here are two suggestions:</strong></p>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li><strong>Take a Pet First Aid Class</strong> – There are such classes, and they can be tailored to one type of pet such as a dog or provide general information such resuscitation for many species. Most are given through a veterinarian’s office, so check with yours today. You can also take one through a pet store or a local animal shelter.</li>

<li><strong>Save for Your Pet’s Health</strong> – Even the best insurance does not cover everything. Also, if you miss work due to vet appointments or healthcare treatments, it’s good to have a few days or weeks of income saved up so you can concentrate on your pet’s recovery without worrying about keeping the lights on.</li>
</ul>

<p>So go out and celebrate National Pet Insurance Month by getting a policy to cover your furry, feathered, or scaly family members. They deserve it for all they give to you, and so do you to keep caring for them the best way possible.</p>

<p>In 1942, WWII was barely underway, and the outlook was, for a short time, bleak. The recent Battle of the Coral Sea ended in a stalemate that was crushing to both the American and Japanese Navies. One of the concerns was keeping communications secure, as the Japanese code breakers proved to be quite talented.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-large is-resized"><a href="https://www.defense.gov/News/Feature-Stories/Story/Article/3951611/code-talkers-helped-us-win-world-wars-i-and-ii/" target="_blank"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="640" height="480" src="https://blog.mymilitarysavings.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/Navajo-Code-Talker-Blog-640x480.png" alt="" class="wp-image-42660" style="width:461px;height:auto" srcset="https://blog.mymilitarysavings.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/Navajo-Code-Talker-Blog-640x480.png 640w, https://blog.mymilitarysavings.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/Navajo-Code-Talker-Blog-300x225.png 300w, https://blog.mymilitarysavings.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/Navajo-Code-Talker-Blog-768x576.png 768w, https://blog.mymilitarysavings.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/Navajo-Code-Talker-Blog-370x278.png 370w, https://blog.mymilitarysavings.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/Navajo-Code-Talker-Blog-270x203.png 270w, https://blog.mymilitarysavings.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/Navajo-Code-Talker-Blog-570x428.png 570w, https://blog.mymilitarysavings.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/Navajo-Code-Talker-Blog-740x555.png 740w, https://blog.mymilitarysavings.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/Navajo-Code-Talker-Blog-80x60.png 80w, https://blog.mymilitarysavings.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/Navajo-Code-Talker-Blog.png 800w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px" /></a></figure></div>

<p>Fortunately, a WWI veteran, Philip Johnston, had a solution. As a boy, he lived within the Navajo Nation with his missionary parents and became fluent in the language. After reading about efforts to create an unbreakable code, Johnston was convinced the <strong><a href="https://www.cia.gov/stories/story/navajo-code-talkers-and-the-unbreakable-code/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">solution</a></strong> was with the Navajo people.</p>

<p>The Marines agreed and established a training unit in San Diego. Twenty-nine Navajo men were the first volunteers and, with Johnston, quickly developed the code. They used a combination of their language and keyword substitutions that bedeviled the Japanese for the next three years. By the end of the war, about four hundred <strong><a href="https://guides.loc.gov/navajo-code-talkers" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Navajos</a></strong> volunteered for this duty.</p>

<p>Beginning with the Battle of Guadalcanal in August of that year, the <strong><a href="https://www.defense.gov/News/Feature-Stories/Story/Article/3951611/code-talkers-helped-us-win-world-wars-i-and-ii/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Navajo Code Talkers</a></strong> were a part of every significant <strong><a href="https://www.intelligence.gov/publics-daily-brief/publics-daily-brief-articles/navajo-nation-inventors-of-the-unbreakable-code" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">encounter</a></strong> with the enemy, until the end of the war. Their success is legendary within the Marine Corps and an incredible source of pride for Navajo service members and veterans still today.</p>

<p>It would be twenty-three years after the end of the war before these men could even tell their story, however. Their existence and mission were not declassified until 1968. It would still take another fourteen years for Federal recognition to begin.</p>

<p>In 1982, <strong><a href="https://www.reaganlibrary.gov/archives/speech/proclamation-4954-national-navaho-code-talkers-day" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">President Reagan</a></strong> awarded a Certificate of Recognition to the Navajo Code Talkers and declared August 14th to be ‘Navajo Code Talkers Day’. <strong><a href="http://senaa.org/Veterans/Codetalkers/codetalkers2.html" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">President Clinton</a></strong>, in 2000, went one step further and signed the law that awarded them the Congressional Gold Medal. The following year, <strong><a href="https://georgewbush-whitehouse.archives.gov/news/releases/2001/07/20010726-5.html" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">President Bush</a></strong> presented the medals to the last four survivors in July 2001.</p>

<p>Today, eighty years after WWII ended, there are only two Code Talkers still with us. Thanks to the efforts of military and civilian historians and reporters at local and national levels, there are written, audio, and video interviews available with many of them before they passed. As we observe this day, take the time to find them and discover an amazing part of military history that was instrumental to defeating the Japanese and achieving victory in the Pacific Theater.</p>

<p>Travel is a benefit you don’t fully understand when stationed overseas until that first trip. If you are in Italy, Germany, or England, you can reach any point in those countries in less than a day’s travel. It makes for very memorable weekend trips and the kind of family holidays that you talk about twenty years, and more, later. When traveling, one of the questions to ask yourself is: What type of rental car do I need?</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-large is-resized"><a href="https://www.autoeurope.com/travel-guides/germany/driving-the-autobahn-in-germany/" target="_blank"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="640" height="480" src="https://blog.mymilitarysavings.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Car-Rental-Choice-640x480.png" alt="" class="wp-image-42059" style="width:457px;height:auto" srcset="https://blog.mymilitarysavings.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Car-Rental-Choice-640x480.png 640w, https://blog.mymilitarysavings.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Car-Rental-Choice-300x225.png 300w, https://blog.mymilitarysavings.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Car-Rental-Choice-768x576.png 768w, https://blog.mymilitarysavings.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Car-Rental-Choice-370x278.png 370w, https://blog.mymilitarysavings.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Car-Rental-Choice-270x203.png 270w, https://blog.mymilitarysavings.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Car-Rental-Choice-570x428.png 570w, https://blog.mymilitarysavings.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Car-Rental-Choice-740x555.png 740w, https://blog.mymilitarysavings.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Car-Rental-Choice-80x60.png 80w, https://blog.mymilitarysavings.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Car-Rental-Choice.png 800w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px" /></a></figure></div>

<p>If it is just yourself and a spouse, or a travel buddy, get a car with no actual back seat and just enough room for a large suitcase or two smaller bags suitable for a weekend. You’ll get everywhere you need to go and be able to park almost everywhere. Your gas cost will be much lower, freeing up money for a nicer hotel, meal, or additional beer.</p>

<p>Do you have a family that includes an infant? Then, you’ll need a larger vehicle to accommodate the car seat, the diaper bag, and the portable crib. Nowhere in Europe did we find a hotel bed that comfortably fit two parents and a child larger than 20 pounds.</p>

<p><strong>Germany</strong> – Large sedans are best for the <strong><a href="https://www.autoeurope.com/travel-guides/germany/driving-the-autobahn-in-germany/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Autobahn</a></strong>, and driving a Mercedes at 100 MPH is a lot of fun. That’s 161 kilometers per hour if you’re interested. Most of the tourist destinations were fine for large vehicles. Parking near the <strong><a href="https://www.berlin.de/en/attractions-and-sights/3560266-3104052-brandenburg-gate.en.html" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Brandenburg Gate</a></strong> was easy to get into and out of.</p>

<p><strong>France</strong> – The main roads are wide and fun to navigate with even an American full-size van, but some side streets are difficult with a large vehicle. A European-sized sedan is a much better choice, especially if you don’t need a portable crib. It also makes parking far easier in <strong><a href="https://parisjetaime.com/eng/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Paris</a></strong>, where there are, in my opinion, three cars for each spot within walking distance of your hotel. As a side note, some French tow truck drivers will take a gratuity to release your vehicle if you catch them during their morning coffee break, and they’re expecting a busy day anyway.</p>

<p><strong>Italy</strong> – Good grief, go as small as you can get. We once drove a Dodge Grand Caravan down a side street in Florence (we had a one-year-old with all the gear I mentioned above). I flattened the side mirrors and continued on when it got tight, keeping the driver’s side about an inch from the wall. It got so narrow at one point that my wife and I could see the tires touching the curbs on both sides of the van.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-large is-resized"><a href="https://parisjetaime.com/eng/" target="_blank"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="640" height="480" src="https://blog.mymilitarysavings.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Car-Rental-Overseas-640x480.png" alt="" class="wp-image-42060" style="width:457px;height:auto" srcset="https://blog.mymilitarysavings.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Car-Rental-Overseas-640x480.png 640w, https://blog.mymilitarysavings.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Car-Rental-Overseas-300x225.png 300w, https://blog.mymilitarysavings.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Car-Rental-Overseas-768x576.png 768w, https://blog.mymilitarysavings.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Car-Rental-Overseas-370x278.png 370w, https://blog.mymilitarysavings.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Car-Rental-Overseas-270x203.png 270w, https://blog.mymilitarysavings.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Car-Rental-Overseas-570x428.png 570w, https://blog.mymilitarysavings.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Car-Rental-Overseas-740x555.png 740w, https://blog.mymilitarysavings.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Car-Rental-Overseas-80x60.png 80w, https://blog.mymilitarysavings.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Car-Rental-Overseas.png 800w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px" /></a></figure></div>

<p>We had a lot of fun and never broke our budget, except once. That wasn’t due to the rental car, but to being able to shop at <strong><a href="https://www.louisvuitton.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Louis Vuitton</a></strong> in <strong><a href="https://parisjetaime.com/eng/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Paris</a></strong>. It was worth it, though. Twenty years later, my wife still has her two bags, which is another benefit to traveling in Europe.</p>
