Every spring I convince myself I’m going to “reset my life.”

That would mean new routines, more structure., and morning walks that look peaceful instead of me holding a leash in one hand and a coffee I forgot about in the other.

My dog? Completely unbothered. Already thriving, and already acting like they invented spring. So, instead of overhauling everything, we did the one reset that actually matters in this house: Lunch!

It started pretty simply with the same routine, but just a little more intention behind it. We’ve been using Merrick dry food as the base for lunch, and the thing I did not expect is how much my dog acts like I’ve suddenly become a five-star chef!

There’s something about it that just looks…real. Like, you can actually see what’s going into the bowl. Real ingredients, real texture, none of that “mystery kibble, but make it aesthetic” situation.

Then, I got slightly extra with it (because spring apparently makes me that person) and started adding little toppings or serving it on a lick mat some afternoons. Now, lunch is a little messier, a little more intentional and fully monitored by a dog who acts like I am running late to serve them.

The reaction is always the same…He sits. He stares, and he does that slow tail thump like they’re trying to remain composed but failing immediately and suddenly it’s gone like it never existed.

The best part isn’t even the food itself, it’s everything that comes after, because when lunch hits right, the whole day changes. Walks end up longer, sniff stops are more dramatic, and even the random yard zoomies feel like they have purpose instead of just… chaos for sport.

It’s like the fuel actually carries them through the day instead of just filling a bowl. I guess that’s the “spring reset” no one really talks about. Let me tell you…it is not the clean kitchen and the perfect new routine. It is just a calmer morning and afternoon, a happier dog, and a mat that gets new attention everyday now.

I didn’t reinvent my life this spring, however, I did upgrade lunch….my dog thinks that was the correct priority anyway.

Mom usually prepares them for us with the punctuality of a five-star restaurant opening at exactly 0600. Portions measured. Bowls placed. Fresh water topped off like a luxury spa amenity. It’s a system we respect, and we always expect. 

However, on this particular morning, she refused to get out of bed at 6 a.m.

We tried patience. We really did. There was polite pawing. A gentle face sniff. A single, tasteful meow. When those efforts were ignored, we escalated to Phase Two: coordinated ruckus. This included synchronized zoomies across her pillow, a dramatic object push from the nightstand (gravity is fascinating), and a vocal performance that can only be described as “urgent breakfast opera.”

Finally, she stumbled to the kitchen. Victory.

Breakfast isn’t just breakfast, it’s health, routine, and the foundation of a very important day of napping in sunbeams and supervising dust particles.

Lately, I’ve been completely hooked on this Danish idea called Hygge. It’s that perfect mix of coziness, warmth, and just… slowing down in a way that makes everyday life feel kind of magical. I first heard about it from a friend of mine, she’s an author, and in her book, she talks about little rituals that turn ordinary days into moments you actually savor. After reading it, I realized I wanted some of that magic in my own life, especially with Luna.

Hygge isn’t about fancy décor or Pinterest-worthy setups. It’s not about doing anything big. For me, it’s the little things that make it real: curling up on the couch under a soft blanket, a warm drink in hand, and Luna curled up against me. She’s full of personality, stubborn, funny, and endlessly curious, but somehow she makes cozy feel effortless. I love watching her stretch in the sunlight, or just nap in a sunbeam. It reminds me to pause and notice the small things I usually rush past.

Of course, part of keeping Hygge alive with a cat means keeping the space fresh. Nothing kills a cozy vibe faster than a litter box that smells funky. I’ve been using Tidy Cat, and it’s honestly one of those little practical things that makes relaxing with her possible without even thinking twice.

I’ve started trying to turn ordinary routines into these tiny Hygge rituals. Morning light streaming in through the windows is my cue for a slow stretch, a quiet coffee, and a little check-in with Luna as she inspects the room for “hidden treasures.” Evenings are my favorite: soft lighting, blankets tossed over the couch, and a few rounds of her favorite toys. Sometimes I light a candle (safely!) and just watch her explore or nap. There’s something so grounding about watching her do her thing, completely content.

The thing about Hygge is that it’s not something you schedule or force, it’s about noticing the little things and choosing to make them feel special. For me, it’s more than comfort, it’s gratitude, presence, and connection. Luna has been with me through moves, travels, and all the little chaos life throws at you, and practicing these cozy rituals with her makes me appreciate every day a little more.

Whether I’m curled up with a book, sipping tea, or just soaking in a quiet moment with her, I’ve realized that Hygge isn’t just a concept…it’s most definitely a lifestyle. And honestly, having Luna there to share it with is the best part of all. In 2026, I’m making it a goal to create more of these little Hygge moments with her. Soft blankets, warm drinks, gentle light, and a little help from Tidy Cat to keep our space fresh. It’s simple, it’s joyful, and it’s exactly the kind of mindful practice I didn’t know I needed, but now, I can’t imagine starting a day without it.

The candles flicker. The moonlight spills across the table. Sir Vesper, wearing a velvet cloak and a sparkly crystal collar, rests one paw atop a deck of tarot cards. The scent of pumpkin fills the air. A low growl (or maybe a tummy rumble) breaks the silence.

“Let’s see what the cards reveal…” Sir Vesper seems to say with wise, witchy eyes.

And just like that, the reading begins.

The Past: The Fool

Ah yes, The Fool, a card of beginnings, innocence, and a touch of chaos. This was your dog before Purina ONE entered their life.

Back then, mealtime was a mystery. They bounded through the days with excitement but lacked the balance, energy, and sparkle they have now. Their coat wasn’t quite as shiny, their steps not quite as springy. Like a wandering pup setting out on an adventure, they were full of potential, just waiting for the right magic to guide them.

Enter: Purina ONE, their destined discovery.

The Present: Wheel of Fortune

As Sir Vesper flips the next card, the Wheel of Fortune glows beneath the candlelight. This is the card of transformation, and oh, how things have changed!

Finally, Sir Vesper  turns the last card…Strength. The image shows a loyal buff dog standing tall beneath with weights and a full moon shining down on them, eyes bright, heart strong. This is the future Purina ONE has foretold.

Strength means vitality. It means endurance, confidence, and the powerful bond between you and your four-legged companion. Highlights of  my experience:

The Dogs… obviously 🙂 
I LOVE dogs..even though I have cats ( I’d prefer dogs but husband is a cat guy, and with our lifestyle, cats are just  easier to take care of ).

It was so fun to see all the different types of breeds, I honestly, did not know there were so many different kinds!  Of course I had my favorites, but each dog was unique and interesting  to watch!

Look at those beauties!! The Boxer and The Golden were two of my favorites and they both made it to the final round!

My FAVORITE moment was when the Golden Retriever embraced its handler in a big hug, right after they found out they won  first in their category…and would be finalists! I was so happy I was able to capture the moment 🙂

The Company

Debbie and the Purina® Pro Plan® team were great! I loved getting to know everyone and we all had fun casting our vote on our favorite dogs and who we thought would win.

The Whole Experience

We had our own private room/box seats! There was so much delicious food to choose from,  and big comfy seats to sit in with personal TVs so we could see the dogs up close! It was definitely a once in a lifetime experience 🙂
