The Red Pyramid – Week 3

Carter and Sadie are gathering the last of their resources before the coming storm. Their uncle Amos is still in the clutches of Set. Sadie and Carter have to find the secret name of Set if they want to defeat him. They have traveled to the underworld to meet with Anubis and attempt to get the Feather of Truth. If they want the spells to work, then they have to have all the necessary ingredients, AND be in the right place at the right time.

As they work through the different towns and challenges set before them, both Sadie and Carter are aware of the growing voices coming from the gods in their heads. Sadie first encounters Iskandar who gives her some advice and apologizes for departing at such an inopportune time. When she finally gets face to face with Anubis, she is shocked to realize they have met before! He is the handsome young man she has seen in her ba travels. As she works on getting the Feather of Truth, she is trying to figure out what exactly Anubis wants. Zia manages to send a message to Carter, asking for a meeting in New Mexico. She also warns him to not trust Amos. As they get closer and closer to the desert of Arizona, they can feel the powers growing. Desjardin’s is not giving up on his hunt for the young teens, and there are several magicians hunting them.

Sadie and Carter have determined to save their father, but they are not sure how they are going to defeat Set yet. As they enter the pyramid they see that it has been decorated, but the pictures are wrong. Instead of giving the visions of an afterlife, they all depict chaos and destruction. They know they have to act fast. Giving into the power of the gods inside them, they begin their challenge. Sadie knows that in order to defeat him they have to move the location of the fight away from his power base. Will their knowledge be enough to defeat Set, save their father AND the continent of North America?

This week we are reading Chapters 28- end of book.

Questions:

  1. Sadie and Carter are still being hunted by Desjardin’s who does not believe that humans and gods can work together. Is there any way to prove him wrong?
  2. Sadie has to promise that while she holds the Feather of Truth, she will do or say nothing untruthful. What would you have promised to gain the items needed to defeat a monster?
  3. If you knew the fate of the continent and then the world rested on you, what would you do? How would you prepare?

**Happy Reading!! I hope you enjoyed this book! I had fun with it!**
