Fall is officially brewing, and what better way to welcome the crisp sweater weather than with a cozy afternoon craft to welcome the fall magic? If your kitchen pantry is stocked with coffee filters, you’re already halfway to creating a stunning, vibrant Fall Tree that captures the warm colors of Fall. This quick and low-mess craft lets the smallest hands in your house blend colors together like real changing leaves, making it a perfect keepsake or to display on the fridge. So, grab your markers, pour yourself a fresh cup of coffee, and let’s use a few extra filters to make something truly BREW-tiful together!
Supplies:
Directions:
- Color the Coffee Filter
- Snag those coffee filters from the pantry and let your kids start coloring with those washable markers!
- Ensure that they color the entire coffee filter to get that fall-inspired look, try blending shades of orange, yellow, red, with a splash of green to mimic the changing leaves. There is no right or wrong way to do this, so any pattern or scribble works perfectly.
- Spray and Let Dry
- Get the fully colored coffee filters and lightly mist them with water. This will allow the colors to blend and mix together.
- Sit the filters aside and allow them to fully dry, before you move onto the next step.
- Draw the Tree Trunk and Cut
- Draw your fall tree trunk with a sharpie on your brown construction paper.
- Once it is to your liking, cut the trunk out. You can use the sharpie to draw on the trunk to add a little more detail and character to it.
- Glue the Tree Trunk to the Filter
- After cutting the tree trunk out and your coffee filter is completely dry, it’s time to assemble the tree.
- Using your glue stick, ensure that you cover all the limbs that will touch the tree. Press the trunk firmly into the coffee filter, and watch your fall tree come to life!
Notes:
- If you want the filters to dry faster, feel free to grab your hair dryer and speed the process up a little.
- You can use cardstock so it’s a little thicker than the construction paper making it more sturdy. We taped ours on the front window so the construction paper worked perfectly.
As the colors dry and your fall masterpiece comes to life, remember that the sweetest part of crafting isn’t just the finished artwork, it’s the cozy moments shared around the kitchen table making it. Whether you’re hanging your gorgeous fall tree on the refrigerator or sending it with Dad to the office for decor, this simple coffee filter craft is a beautiful reminder of the ever changing seasons. Hang it high, display those brilliant fall colors proudly, and keep brewing up wonderful memories together all season long!
