I’m not sure if it’s just me but I feel like the last few months just flew by. I am already seeing Halloween items in the stores! Next it will be Thanksgiving, and before you know it, Christmas will be here! Are you ready?
Enter our 4 Month Christmas Savings Challenge! Now, this is a very basic starting point to remind you how fast savings can add up! If you take $25 from each of your military pay days, you can have $200 cash ready to go for Christmas fun! If you can save more, it will add up even faster:
In addition to any presents you may need to purchase at this time, there are so many other things you have to save and account for when it comes to holiday spending! Make sure to think about things such as holiday travel, and even things like office potlucks or family dinners. The costs can definitely add up when you have to purchase extra food to prepare meals and have you seen the price of plane tickets lately?!?!
Now of course, if you haven’t started setting money aside already there’s no need to panic. There is still time to save up. Just tailor whatever budget you decide to use to your family’s needs and what you can afford to put away. There are always ways to make a few extra dollars on the side such as applying for seasonal jobs, babysitting, pet sitting and house sitting. Those particular jobs are always in demand around this time of year.
When the holidays roll around expenses can add up quickly so creating a budget can help you stay on track. Once you create a budget, stick to it! DON’T overspend! You can also save yourself some stress by shopping early and taking advantage of deals and sales. If you prefer to shop earlier, then you can start your 4 month timeline sooner!
To help you get started, we made a printable 4 Month Christmas Challenge Tracker for you! Just write your amount on the right side and the pay day date on the left side and start saving!
We know a lot of people find the holidays to be stressful because they focus a lot on money, but my overall advice would be to keep it simple. Focus on family and reflection. I hope you find these tips helpful. We hope you have a Happy Holiday Season!
