Snacking Board for Fall Football

We are gearing up for my favorite season…Football season! Our weeks will be filled with Monday and Thursday Night Football, Friday night lights, and of course, the Sundays filled with Pigskin Partying. To say we are a family centered around football is putting it lightly. Our whole Fan-ily gathers to watch our home team every week and when there is a bi-week, we still find ways to celebrate. How about you? Do you have a favorite football team your Fan-ily roots for?

Naturally, I am always in charge of food for our Football Festivities. We love having a smorgasbord of snacks and treats to make sure we have something that everyone loves. Lucky for me, Nabisco has tons of snacks and recipes for the Fall Football season! I was able to find everything my Fan-ily will enjoy! I found an incredible snack that keeps each person satisfied, the Field of Greens Snacking Board. This is my favorite recipe because you can add all the fruits, veggies, and munchies to tailor it however you want to. It’s definitely a crowd pleaser, to say the least.

Field of Greens Snacking Board

Ingredients

RITZ Crackers

TRISCUIT Crackers

WHEAT THINS Original Snacks

GOOD THINS Simply Salt Rice Snacks

Cheddar and Havarti cheese with dill

Prepared dips, such as guacamole and spinach dip

Pistachios, marinated mixed olives and wasabi peas

Cut-up green vegetables, such as asparagus, broccoli, celery, cucumbers, and sugar snap peas

Assorted green fruits, such as green grapes, sliced apples, and sliced kiwi

Red pepper strips

Preparation

Arrange crackers and snacks on large board in shape of a football as shown in photo. Place cheese slices, bowls of guacamole and spinach dip, and small bowls of pistachios, olives, and wasabi peas on board around crackers. Fill in empty spaces on board with the green vegetables and fruits. Place red pepper strips and asparagus spears on crackers for the laces and seams on the football.

Cheese and dip boards such as this, can be prepared for any number of servings, depending on the size of the gathering. Use a guideline of 1 oz. cheese, 2 Tbsp. dip and 1 oz. (or labeled serving size) of crackers* per person. For a well-balanced board, fill in empty spaces with fruits and veggies. For the 16 servings shown here, figure on purchasing 1 lb. of cheese and 2 cups of dip. Have plenty of RITZ and TRISCUIT Crackers, WHEAT THINS and GOOD THINS Snacks available for guests to choose from, along with the fruits and veggies. *Serving size of RITZ Crackers is 1/2 oz.

Tips

Make it Simple

Prepared dips can be purchased from your local supermarket. For a small gathering, check out the in-store salad bar! You can purchase small amounts of each item instead of buying an entire package for each. For added convenience, look for pre-cut vegetables and fruits in the produce section of your supermarket. Check out the store’s olive or salad bar for the marinated olives. Try serving an assortment of olive varieties, such as those flavored with crushed red pepper or herbs.

Vary the Cheeses, Fruit & Vegetables

For a more interesting board, serve 2 or 3 kinds of cheeses, featuring a variety of textures, shapes, and flavors. Soft, semi-soft and firm cheese; cubes, slices, logs, and wedges all add more interest. Choose fruits that are in season to ensure freshness and have complementary flavors and shapes, such as clusters of grapes and sliced crisp apples. An assortment of vegetables adds both interest and crunch.

Cheese Tip

For best flavor, let the cheeses sit for about 15 minutes at room temperature before serving. If serving a wedge or full piece of cheese, be sure to place a knife on the board for each variety of cheese you are serving.

So, make sure you are serving your Fan-ily nothing but the best this Football Season! Whether you are a high school, college, professional, or all-around fan, you can’t go wrong with Nabisco. All their amazing snacks and recipes help you score big!
