Good day, young readers!
Summer is finally here, and it is time to read our days away! There are so many fabulous books out there, just waiting to be discovered, and we have found several good ones to dive into over the past several years. Whether you are at the pool, visiting family, or spending the summer at home, books are always a great way to fill your time.
Currently, we are reading Octavia Bloom and the Missing Key by Estelle Grace Tudor. It is a fun mystery with a bit of magic mixed in. I hope that you are enjoying it as much as I am! But with June flying by, we are going to be starting our July read before too long. For that, we are going to dive into the middle-grade horror Dread Wood by Jennifer Killick. It promises to be a really great book and one that I am looking forward to reading to my kids. I could not put it down once I picked it up!
How are you planning to spend your summer? If you are looking for a new book to try out, you can look at the books that we have done over the past few years with our book club. You can find the list here: http://bit.ly/1StF4v2
Dread Wood Blurb from Goodreads
The brand new must-read middle-grade novel from the author of super-spooky Crater Lake. Perfect for 9+ fans of R.L. Stine’s Goosebumps.
It’s basically the worst school detention ever. When classmates (but not mate-mates) Hallie, Angelo, Gustav and Naira are forced to come to school on a SATURDAY, they think things can’t get much worse. But they’re wrong. Things are about to get seriously scary.
What has dragged their teacher underground? Why do the creepy caretakers keeping humming the tune to Itsy Bitsy Spider? And what horrors lurk in the shadows, getting stronger and meaner every minute . . .? Cut off from help and in danger each time they touch the ground, the gang’s only hope is to work together. But it’s no coincidence that they’re all there on detention. Someone has been watching and plotting and is out for revenge . . .
