Nerdy Nibbles is ready for Spiderman!

Summer time is the BEST time for new movies! And this week is no exception, with the opening of Spiderman: Homecoming. The boys (hubby included) and I are SUPER excited about it! I wanted to whip up some fun Spiderman cookies for the boys to nosh on. The royal icing wasn’t my favorite, not gonna lie, but the kiddos loved them and that’s all that really matters.

If you have a favorite sugar cookie recipe, go ahead and make that! I’m not that person, HAHA! I grabbed pack of Pillsbury refrigerated sugar cookie dough and just popped those in the oven. So easy!

I thought royal icing would be a new fun thing to try, but it was a lot of work! The store bought pack is easy to get going, just add water according to the directions. I separated it into 3 batches for red, black, and white icing.

I’m not SUPER confident in my cookie decorating skills so I used an edible cookie marker to outline the eyes! That was easy. If the icing is too thick, add a little more water. I used a couple of frosting tips with plastic bags to make the outlines in icing.

Start with the eyes, outlined in black. Add a ring of red around the edge and then fill that in. I used a small butter knife to smooth out the red as best I could. Go back to black to outline the spiderweb. The hardest part for me was the curves in the web. 😉

These would be great for Halloween too! Skip the eyes and just make spiderweb cookies.

Once dry, add the white icing to the eyes and there ya go! Your favorite web slinging hero on a delicious sugar cookie!

I think a different frosting would be a little easier probably, but these worked well enough for the kids! I wonder if I could sneak some into the movies this weekend? Ha ha!
