Dragons, white walkers, and dire wolves, OH MY! It’s mid-July and that can only mean one thing in this Nerdy Nibbles household. Game of Thrones is finally back on! Last year, we did roasted turkey legs and potatoes. All things you can eat with your hands. Check out my Medieval Times night HERE for ideas! This year, I decided to go a little lighter and more simple. It was still just as delicious! I made a meat and cheese platter with sausages (Sorry, Theon!) Lemon cakes for Sansa Stark, and even a White Walker drink! Check it out below!
Look at this spread!
We’ll start with the Lemon Cakes. They turned out so light and fluffy! The icing is the perfect combo of sweet and tart. A perfect dessert!
Lemon Cakes
- 1 Box of Lemon Cake mix, such as Pillsbury
- 1 Box Instant Pudding, lemon or vanilla
- 1 1/4 cups of Sour Cream
- 1/2 cup Milk
- 4 eggs
- 1 Tablespoon lemon juice
Preheat the oven to 325. Grease your muffin pans. I used both regular and mini muffin pans! Using a hand mixer, blend everything together until smooth.
Fill the muffin pans 3/4 full and bake for 12-14 minutes, until a toothpick comes out clean.
Let them cool for a few minutes in the pan, and then flip them upside down on a cooling rack. Now you have little cakes instead of muffins! 😉 Let them cool completely. Time to make the glaze!
Lemon Glaze
- 3 1/2 cups powdered sugar
- 2 Tablespoons butter, melted
- Zest and juice of one lemon
- 1/4 cup hot water
Whisk all ingredients together until smooth!
Put wax paper underneath the cooling racks. Dunk the cakes into the glaze and let them drip down the sides. IT’S SO GOOD!
Enlist your kiddos to help with the dunking! Let them set and try not to eat them all before dinner!
For the White Walker drink, I kept it really simple. Turns out there aren’t a whole lot of white liqueurs out there. Haha! Fill a glass with ice and add white chocolate liqueur or Rumchata. Add vanilla cream soda. Or white rum if that’s how you roll. Add a splash of Blue Curacao and give it just a swirl with a straw. Icy blue-white to match the crazy White Walkers!
For the meat and cheese platter, it’s really up to you and what you like! I grabbed a few cheeses and an Italian meat pack I knew everyone would enjoy. Add in olives, pickles, pickled veggies, fruit, nuts, and a loaf of sourdough bread (warmed up in the oven.) YUM!
End your night with some delicious lemon cakes and there you have it. The perfect Game of Thrones premiere party spread! I hope you enjoy it and the season seven premiere!
