As a busy mom, I’m always looking for “life hacks”. I stumbled across this cake mix recipe that is beyond easy! All you need is a cake mix and a can of soda. THAT IS IT! Simple right?! For my experiment, I decided to get a Devils Food cake mix and a Pepsi.
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit, then get started on your batter. First, you pour the cake mix into a mixing bowl.
Then you pour in 12oz of Pepsi.
Next, you stir completely combining the soda and cake mix into a batter.
Next, you pour your batter into the baking vessel of your choice. I chose to make cupcakes. So I put in liners and poured the batter in.
Next, you bake, following the times for whatever vessel you chose. For cupcakes, the directions on the back of the box said 15-19min. After baking let the cake cool and enjoy as is or top with your favorite icing.
The cupcakes have a hint of that classic Pepsi flavor and they are so light and fluffy.
Not only is this recipe quick and easy its budget-friendly as well. I got everything I needed, including the cupcake liners and the icing, for $4.50. I don’t know about you but, I love a good deal and this recipe is one! Also, we’ve all had those days when we want to make a cake and are missing the eggs, or need milk. Just add 12oz of your favorite Pepsi product and see what you come up with.
