Paper Christmas Ornament Ideas

It’s beginning to feel a lot like Christmas! Hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday! Have you noticed the stores are all filled up with red, green and white?  One of the local radio stations has already gone Christmas too. Tis the season ya’ll! This week’s craft is one you can actually make different ways by using Christmas paper and different types of hole punches.

The supplies are very simple:

  • Your favorite Holiday paper
  • Hole punchers different shapes
  • Glue (any kind you prefer)
  • Bells or any other embellishments for the crafts

This Christmas tree is one you can do multiple things with. Using yarn you can hang it on your tree as an ornament, add to a wreath or just decorate your wall with them! You’ll start by punching out the shapes from your holiday card stock. I actually purchased a whole packet with different styles. You can always purchase sheets a la carte or in a pack like I did at your local crafting stores. To save on time we also used a hot glue gun. *If you allow your children to make this craft all on their own, I recommend they use non-toxic school glue.*

We decided to attach to our Christmas tree to an empty toilet roll. What we didn’t consider was how top heavy it would be so if you want to place a little bag of sand inside of the roll to help weigh it down. We actually poked a hole in the pack and attached to a holiday wreath. There’s always crafting fails at my house, but I love problem solving them to cover all the bases for you. 😉

Here’s another idea for you! I love spreading Christmas cheer throughout the whole house so each of our room doors is now adorned with it’s own wreath made by the Christmas card stock stars. We added jingle bells so that we’d hear the doors and I found cute little chalkboards to add to the wreath. You can also do that or just go with the wreath. Christmas, Christmas everywhere!

Super easy right? You can do so much with paper cut outs. Here’s a few more ideas you could make:

  • A large Holiday Wreath
  • A mural for an empty wall in your house
  • Window clings
  • Cover an empty picture frame to decorate it
  • Hang from tinsel on your tree

Just a few extra things you can do with cardstock.

I hope you enjoyed this week’s MMS Craft! Super easy and so many versatile ways to use it.

Happy Crafting!
