The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe – Week 4

When the witch killed Aslan, she thought that she had the entire world back under her control. She had no idea just how wrong she was. What she did not know, is that the magic she relied on  was not as it should have been. Aslan was innocent, he was not a traitor. Therefore, the curse began to work backwards, undoing what the witch had done.

When Susan and Lucy realize what is going on, they are thrilled. Their beloved Aslan is back, and they are off to the home of the witch, where he wakes up all the creatures that had been turned into statues. When they are sure that the castle has been cleared and all the creatures awakened, they set off for the field of battle. The witch and her followers are in a heated battle with Peter, Edmund and their followers. They know they must win the day. But the witch is turning those who are against her into statues even on the battlefield. Edmund confronts her, and breaks her wand, which forces her to use a different weapon, but that does not mean that she is any less of a threat. When Aslan and the others show up, they are a welcome reinforcement for those who have been in the battle. Their numbers are dwindling, and with their arrival, the tide of the battle turns to their favor.

Peter, Edmund, Susan and Lucy are then taken to Cair Paravel where they are crowned as Kings and Queens of Narnia. They rule fairly for many years, and they bring peace and prosperity back to their lands. But as they are out hunting one day, they stumble across an old lamp post that looks slightly familiar, and as they venture deeper into the brush looking for their quarry, they tumble out of the door of the wardrobe, just as if they had gone in moments before!

This week we are reading Chapters 15-17

Questions:

  1. Do you think the girls should have gone back to camp immediately after what happened to Aslan, and informed the others?
  2. Edmund fights well against the witch in the battle, managing to break her wand in the process. Do you think he has proven his loyalty to his siblings?
  3. If you had come across the lamp post, would you have followed it, or stayed in Narnia?
  4. Did you enjoy the book?
