Investigate with the “Dance Hall Of The Dead”

October is shaping up to be a spook-tacular month! We are enjoying the build up to Halloween, and then of course the rest of the holidays that we have following. I love this time of year! The leaves are thinking about changing, but here in the South, we seem to be holding onto summer just a little longer – not that I am complaining, mind you. Cold weather and I are not really friends.

This month we are reading through Dracula, and OH MY GOODNESS! I am really enjoying it! I have not ever fully read through this one, and the story is keeping me captivated! I would love to hear what you are thinking about the book! Has any one character or section really grabbed you?

November is coming around faster than we care to admit, and I am excited to share our next read with you! We are going to be reading “Dance Hall of The Dead,” by Tony Hillerman. I have loved all of the books of his that I have read, so I am excited to read this one with you!

If your family has not turned your summer reading cards in, please do so! We would love to get the winners drawn and announced!

Dance Hall Of The Dead

Two Native-American boys have vanished into thin air, leaving a pool of blood behind them. Lieutenant Joe Leaphorn of the Navajo Tribal Police has no choice but to suspect the very worst, since the blood that stains the parched New Mexican ground once flowed through the veins of one of the missing, a young Zuñi. But his investigation into a terrible crime is being complicated by an important archaeological dig . . . and a steel hypodermic needle. And the unique laws and sacred religious rites of the Zuñi people are throwing impassable roadblocks in Leaphorn’s already twisted path, enabling a craven murderer to elude justice or, worse still, to kill again.
