Celebrate The Last Jedi with Wookiee Cookies & BB-8 Cocoa!

It’s December! Do you know what that means? Christmas? Yeah, yeah we all know that, but also A NEW STAR WARS MOVIE! My family are die hard Star Wars fans and we are counting down until December 15th when The Last Jedi is released. I can’t wait! So, we can’t have a Nerdy Nibbles without another Star Wars theme. (See also: Death Star Whoopie Pies!) Since it is the holidays, I went for a cookies and cocoa theme and I think it turned out super cute! Check out my Wookiee Cookies and BB-8 Cocoa!

While researching holiday cookies, I realized I have never made gingerbread cookies! GASP! I knew that had to change so I found some adorable inspiration the Nifty Spoon.

Gingerbread Wookiee Cookies

  • Betty Crocker gingerbread cookie mix plus ingredients to make the dough:
  • 1 egg, 1/2 cup butter, and 1 tablespoon water
  • 1/2 cup Hershey’s white chocolate chips or a tube of white frosting for decorating
  • 1/2 cup Hershey’s chocolate chips or a tube of black frosting for decorating
  • Large gingerbread man cookie cutter
  • Fork

Make the cookie dough according to package directions. Roll your gingerbread dough out on a floured surface and cut out some gingerbread men. I was able to make 14 large Wookiees.

Using a fork, press down into the dough to form the hair on your Wookiee. Press down pretty firmly so the lines stay during baking. If the cookies puff and smooth while baking, simply press your hair into the still warm cookie straight from the oven. Let cool completely.

Melt the chocolate chips and pour into a small plastic bag with the end snipped off. Pipe the ammo belt onto your Wookiees and add the eyes. These decorations are so simple and adorable! Melt the white chocolate and add ammo dots on the belt and a mouth to each cookie.

Now you can’t serve gingerbread cookies without hot cocoa! Check out this fun recipe I found from Our Teen Trends!

BB-8 Vanilla Cocoa

  • 4 cups milk
  • 6 oz Hershey’s white chocolate chips (1/2 a bag)
  • 6 oz Orange melting candies (found in the baking aisle)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Mini marshmallows or whipped topping, if desired

Add all ingredients except toppings to a saucepan. Simmer gently over low heat until candies and white chocolate are melted.

Look at that awesome orange BB-8 color! My boys flipped for it!

I have one boy who loves whipped topping and one who loves marshmallows (as you can tell!) so I always have to keep both on hand. The hot cocoa is deliciously creamy and sweet. It wasn’t SUPER orange, but I think you get the idea. You could add orange food coloring to white chocolate cocoa and probably get the same effect.

We had so much fun this weekend baking our Wookiee Cookies and drinking BB-8 Cocoa. Less than two weeks until The Last Jedi is released. We can’t wait!
