We are about to embark on some amazing adventures! Summer is just around the corner, and vacation holds so much promise. Everyone is busy making summer plans, and my boys are making their lists of places they want to visit (not all this year) and family they want to see. With that, we are looking at the books that we are going to be reading over the summer and enjoying journeys of a different type. What are you wanting to do this summer?
As we move closer to those long, lazy days, there are plenty of adventures just waiting on the library shelves. You just have to find the ones that speak to you. This month, we are reading “Call It Courage” by Armstrong Sperry. This book follows the journey of a young boy who is afraid of the sea. He must conquer his fear, as it affects his peoples’ way of life. This book is a great read and also won the Newberry Award. Be sure to check your library for a copy.
Although May has just begun, we are going to see June before too long. Our book for that month is going to be “Octavia Bloom and the Missing Key” by Estelle Grace Tudor. Octavia is going to find a different type of adventure, one that is filled with magic! Her family has been hiding a secret, and it is about to be revealed. This book is a fabulous read and one that I enjoyed very much. I hope that it will be one that you will enjoy reading as well. We will also have our Summer Reading Program this summer! Be sure to register for that. Reading is a great way to fill the summer days, expand your vocabulary, and find some new book friends along the way. Be sure to let your parents know that you want to participate.
