Happy July, dear readers! Can you believe that we are starting out another month already? June really flew by – one blink and it was gone. With Covid really shutting down a lot of our normal activities, we have had more reading time – at least in theory! I didn’t do as much reading through June as I usually do, but there was family time to fill the void. Books are a great escape from the daily crazy that we are going through, and a great story is never far away.
Our current read, The Life of Pi, is one that I am really enjoying! I did this one backward, as I watched the movie before I read the book. But so far, this book is not disappointing! Pi’s story is one of survival and optimism. But as we work through this book, its time to start thinking about our August read (and yes, August will be here before we know it). I hope that you will enjoy the upcoming book as much as this one! We are going to be reading The Winter Ghosts by Kate Mosse. Get ready for another fabulous adventure!
Goodreads Excerpt of The Winter Ghosts:
In the winter of 1928, still seeking some kind of resolution to the horrors of World War I, Freddie is traveling through the beautiful but forbidding French Pyrenees. During a snowstorm, his car spins off the mountain road. Dazed, he stumbles through the woods, emerging in a tiny village, where he finds an inn to wait out the blizzard. There he meets Fabrissa, a lovely young woman also mourning a lost generation.
Over the course of one night, Fabrissa and Freddie share their stories. By the time dawn breaks, Freddie will have unearthed a tragic, centuries-old mystery, and discovered his own role in the life of this remote town.
