What a year it has been! We have had some really fun adventures this year, and we promise that this coming year is going to have just as many adventures! December is rumbling by quickly, and soon school will be out for the break! If you are reading along with us in our current read, we are on an adventure with the The Secret Zoo. If you have not found your copy yet, check your local library! It is such a neat adventure, and perfect for these cold winter afternoons! Curl up with a good book!
But as we move through December and into January, we have a new read to announce! We are going to be going on a journey with the “Phantom Tollbooth” by Norton Juster. Ask your parents to take you to the library to find your copy, and get ready for a fun filled January!
The Phantom Tollbooth excerpt from goodreads.com:
Hailed as “a classic. . . . humorous, full of warmth and real invention” (The New Yorker), this beloved story -first published more than fifty years ago- introduces readers to Milo and his adventures in the Lands Beyond.
For Milo, everything’s a bore. When a tollbooth mysteriously appears in his room, he drives through only because he’s got nothing better to do. But on the other side, things seem different. Milo visits the Island of Conclusions (you get there by jumping), learns about time from a ticking watchdog named Tock, and even embarks on a quest to rescue Rhyme and Reason! Somewhere along the way, Milo realizes something astonishing. Life is far from dull. In fact, it’s exciting beyond his wildest dreams. . . .
