Dive Into Adventure Now With “Red Sky Over Hawaii”

Good day, dear readers! What a flying year it has been so far. We have already undertaken a few grand adventures, and they are only just beginning. As the year progresses, we will dive into more fabulous books, find some new reads and maybe a few classic books as well. Sharing good books with friends is the best, and I am so excited to share another amazing one with you!

This month, we are reading “The Reckoning” by Sharon Kay Penman. It is one of those books that stays with you for a long time when finished and enjoyed by everyone! Her books have always been well researched and promise an adventure that cannot be beaten. However, May is going to be here soon, so that means another book to jump into!

In May, we are going to be reading “Red Sky Over Hawaii” by Sara Ackerman, and it looks to be a fabulous adventure as well. We have been skipping through continents with our adventures, but this time, we are coming back closer to home. I have included some information below on this book! I hope you decide to join in this adventure with us!

Book Blurb from Goodreads.com:

Inspired by real places and events of WWII, Red Sky Over Hawaii immerses the reader in a time of American history full of suspicion and peril in this lush and poignant tale about the indisputable power of doing the right thing against all odds.

The attack on Pearl Harbor changes everything for Lana Hitchcock. Arriving home on the Big Island too late to reconcile with her estranged father, she is left alone to untangle the clues of his legacy, which lead to a secret property tucked away in the remote rain forest of Kilauea volcano. When the government starts taking away her neighbors as suspected sympathizers, Lana shelters two young German girls, a Japanese fisherman and his son. As tensions escalate, they are forced into hiding—only to discover the hideaway house is not what they expected.

When a detainment camp is established nearby, Lana struggles to keep the secrets of those in her care. Trust could have dangerous consequences. As their lives weave together, Lana begins to understand the true meaning of family and how the bonds of love carry us through the worst times.
